Two Wolves as One

I long to hear your howl again,
lie in the woods under the moonlight,
sniffing the wind sniffing you,
nuzzle and nip and play
*shakes* all for another day.
the brush of fur,
the sent in the breeze,
your shadowy movements,
yes to nip, to play,
till the full moon raises.
and watch the rising moon,
bringing with it the hunger,
to raise our muzzles to the sky,
are our voices dancing on the night air,
till we must say goodbye.
and when the close of night
becomes day,
the wait for the next nights fall,
the song will rise the next full moon,
for wolves will gather for the song.
and till then when the night
calls you,
and you prowl under the stars,
perk your ears and listen,
can you hear my distant howl?
as I listen for your reply.
and the lonely wind wails our
ghostly song,
I here the distant calling of your cry,
and raise my voice to the sky,
that echoes through the night,
underneath those lonely stars so bright.
but then the full moon will come
again,
and we will dance beneath its light,
our lonely song now joined as one,
and the look in your wolfen eyes,
a howl in itself as mine answer.
as gentle scent of soft gray
fur,
will wave in wisp of breeze,
two wolves as one an echo cry,
both sings with wolfen pride,
the song that is sung as one.
